What to eat in Comacchio and in the province of Ferrara
Typical dishes and traditions of the territory to taste
For those who travel and love good food in Comacchio and the province of Ferrara can find ancient traditions with traditional dishes and products. The values and first fruits of the territory are enhanced by old peasant recipes that starred chefs over the years have been able to revisit and update.
In the Ferrara tradition we find bread with the classic "coppia ferrarese" shape, pumpkin cappellacci, macaroni pie, passatelli and the symbol par excellence of Ferrara gastronomy: Salama da Sugo, served with mashed potatoes.
A "particular" cuisine in which the taste of salty mixes with sweet creating unique and characteristic flavors. For those who love sweets, we cannot forget the classic chocolate tenerina and the pampapato ferrarese, a chocolate cake with a strong spicy flavor filled with almonds and candied fruit.

Moving to the coast, in Comacchio, the sea and consequently fresh fish is the basis of the gastronomy. The queen of the table in Comacchio is certainly the eel, cooked and prepared in different ways: grilled, in brodetto a becco d'asino or with cabbage, marinated, salted, fried, etc. ... The flavor of the Adriatic Sea offers a zero km fish of the highest quality and flavor. We can find sole, flounder, turbot, sea bass, mullet, mantis shrimps or cicadas... all caught fish that can be enjoyed with recipes adapted to our days or traditional, but the classic grilled on the grill is always the master.
